Open Air Tree Hives

Using a ladder or lift, we are able to access and remove open air honey bee hives from various types of trees. Lift rentals are outsourced.

Trap-Out

Trap-outs are a slow eviction process by way of creating a one-way exit and securing all other openings. This process can take 4 weeks or more and is chosen when a structure cannot be opened. This ideal for newly arrived colonies as they will have not build much comb, honey and other hive components. For longer standing colonies that cannot be opened, there are often hive remnants that are left behind. While there are some options to reduce the amount of debris left behind, it is still better to open a structure than leave the hive parts behind.

Winter Bee-hive Removals

During winters in Southwest Florida, resources for honey bees tend to be very low. Because of this, they have a much harder time recouperating after they have been removed which results in lower survival rates. This applies especially to bee-hives when we cannot access their nest to take with them. Those removals include trap-outs and forced absconds. If the colony is not posing a danger, waiting until Spring is most ideal for survival and overall success of live, humane bee removals.
